Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jari Mountain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter North (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mountain comes to the cage accompanied by kuningas. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
North throws a head kick that misses
and Mountain counters with a lovely shot to the body.
North misses with a lunging right hand
and North takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Mountain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Peter North seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mountain takes one on the button.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
North throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Mountain counter with a right hand.
Mountain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
North shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

enabling Mountain to counter with a crisp jab.
North shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mountain counters with a big uppercut that knocks North off his feet! Mountain dives into side control looking to finish!
North is rocked!
North looks gassed!
Mountain remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Mountain wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by North, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mountain is trying to get an arm triangle but North is defending well.
North managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Mountain.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mountain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if North can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jari Mountain has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
North misses with a left hand
and Mountain counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps North thinking.
North throws a head kick but Mountain moves out of range.

letting Mountain counter with a right hand.
Mountain feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mountain throws a lazy right hand but North sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Peter North is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mountain's hands are dropping dangerously low here and North connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mountain scrambles back to his feet.

Mountain uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
North tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mountain sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten North somewhat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mountain is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
North is breathing heavily.

Mountain thows a huge punch but North dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mountain moves into full mount! North won't be happy about that!
Mountain wants to control the pace but North is squirming around nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mountain controlling the pace for now.
The referee warns North that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mountain cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mountain thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Mountain misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Mountain seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down North for as long as he can get away with.

Mountain throws a hook to the side of North's head but North sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
North throws a right and a left that Mountain avoids nicely.

and Mountain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mountain ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
North misses with a body punch
and Mountain counters with a shoot takedown. North fights it but they end up in guard.

Mountain is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

North really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mountain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mountain is pushing down on North's leg trying to pass to half guard. North is fighting to maintain full guard but Mountain has managed to sneak the leg through.

Well Mountain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
