The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Anufriev quickly recovers to half guard.

Anufriev is looking for a sweep. Machida is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Anufriev is trying to control but can't.

Anufriev looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machida is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Machida postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Anufriev to stand up.

Anufriev closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Anufriev lands in his opponent's guard.

Anufriev drops back looking for a leg! Machida is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Machida manages to kick Anufriev off! Anufriev jumps back into Machida's guard.
Anufriev is breathing heavily.
Machida wants to stand but Anufriev is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anufriev tries to free his leg and advance position but Machida is retaining full guard.

Anufriev prevents Machida from standing back up.

Machida is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Anufriev locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Machida is forced to tap!
