Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Devon Woodcomb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Massey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devon Woodcomb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kendall Massey!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woodcomb misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Devon Woodcomb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Woodcomb looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Woodcomb gets a takedown into half guard.
Massey wants to get back to full guard.
Massey is pressing down on Woodcomb's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Massey isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Woodcomb stacks Massey on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Woodcomb!

Massey explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Woodcomb seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Massey looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Massey wants to sweep here but Woodcomb controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Woodcomb wants to pass the guard but Massey is keeping the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Massey is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Massey is keen to just control but Woodcomb is a slippery customer.
Woodcomb knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Massey on the ground.

Massey frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
BOOM! Massey connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Woodcomb is squirming around, avoiding Massey's attempts to control the action.
Woodcomb bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Massey has his foot on Woodcomb's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Woodcomb works his way back into a safe position though.
Woodcomb has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Massey not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Massey looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Woodcomb puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Massey has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Woodcomb is trying to keep an underhook but Massey manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Massey looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Woodcomb with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Massey wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Woodcomb, who protects the arm well.
Massey has knee on belly momentarily but Woodcomb bucks him off and regains half guard.

It looks like Massey is going to stand back up.
Woodcomb tries to kick Massey off but Massey keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Woodcomb wants to control but Massey is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Woodcomb is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Massey pulls his head out easily.

Woodcomb is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Woodcomb won't allow Massey to pass to mount.
Massey is breathing heavily.
Woodcomb gets back to full guard.
Woodcomb throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

Woodcomb controls Massey momentarily but Massey frees himself.
Kendall Massey has got the better of the ground game so far.
Woodcomb is pulling down on Massey's head. It's preventing any offense from Massey, at least for the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Woodcomb tries to score a body lock takedown but Massey shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Woodcomb throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Massey blocks it with crossed arms.

Woodcomb is fighting off a takedown attempt but Massey is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Woodcomb to the mat. Woodcomb regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Woodcomb is looking to break free of the clinch but Massey has double underhooks.
Woodcomb lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Massey backwards.

Woodcomb breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Massey looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Massey throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

A close second round but Kendall Massey will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Massey steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Woodcomb. That one must have hurt.

Woodcomb fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Massey sprawls well initially but Woodcomb persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Massey is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Woodcomb is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Woodcomb has escaped and now he's on top!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Devon Woodcomb.
I think Massey has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
