PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dolby Dames (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrey Fokin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dames comes into the arena with Deep In The Heart Of Texas Song blaring out of the sound system. Dames has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Dolby Dames had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dolby Dames!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrey Fokin!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fokin misses with a takedown
letting Dames counter with a right hand.
Good standup being displayed there by Dames as he connects with a hook.
Fokin with a poor takedown

and Dames counters with a takedown into side control.
Fokin can't do much from the bottom here.
Fokin is trying to escape the position but Dames is controlling the position.
Dames is breathing heavily.
Fokin struggling a bit here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Andrey Fokin wasn't active enough on the ground.
Fokin fails with the takedown
and Fokin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Dolby Dames has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrey Fokin.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fokin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Fokin misses with a takedown attempt
and Dames makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Fokin takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Dames scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Fokin doesn't seem bothered though.
Dames tests Fokin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Dames connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Fokin's hands.
A nice combination there by Dames.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dames shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fokin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dames is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Dames thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dames stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fokin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dames got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fokin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dames has managed to get both his arms back between Fokin's legs - danger averted.
Dames showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Fokin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dames engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Fokin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dames. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fokin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dames doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dames manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fokin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dames defends well.

Dames pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fokin is keeping the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Fokin working for a triangle but Dames defends it easily.
Dames is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Fokin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dames defends it easily.
Fokin working a defensive guard but Dames manages to pass into side control anyway.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fokin tries to control but Dames manages to take his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dolby Dames dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Dames fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fokin sprawls well initially but Dames persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Fokin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Dames is looking to advance position but Fokin won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fokin is trying to maintain the position but Dames is very close to passing his half guard.
Dames trying to control the pace.

Fokin with the active half guard here but Dames passes nicely into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dames advances nicely into full mount.
Fokin tries to hold on but Dames postures up.
Fokin is just holding on here. Dames manages to take his back.
Fokin looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Dames controlling the position well here. Fokin rolled but Dames kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
I really don't envy Fokin right now.
Dames has good solid back control here.
Fokin tries to escape the position.
Fokin is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Dames off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Dames is cranking Fokin's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Fokin! He's tightened the choke and Fokin is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dolby Dames!
