PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Dinero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Nitschke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Paulo Dinero has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Paulo Dinero seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paulo Dinero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Nitschke!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nitschke.
Nitschke is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Dinero's shoulder. That is not cool.
Dinero regains half guard.
Nitschke thows a huge punch but Dinero dodges it nicely.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Damian Nitschke hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nitschke misses with a hook.
Damian Nitschke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nitschke tries to clinch but Dinero is having none of it.

Dinero will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nitschke shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Nitschke cracks Dinero with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dinero is trying desperately to improve position.
Nitschke wants to control the pace but Dinero is squirming around nicely.

Nitschke lands a heavy elbow.
Dinero can't escape the position.
Dinero holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nitschke tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Nitschke takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Nitschke can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dinero is looking to escape.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Nitschke might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Nitschke closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dinero to the mat! Dinero manages to get full guard.

Dinero has his foot on Nitschke's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nitschke works his way back into a safe position though.

Damian Nitschke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Dinero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nitschke has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dinero has managed to get both his arms back between Nitschke's legs - danger averted.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nitschke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Nitschke must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Damian Nitschke is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I've got Nitschke winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
