Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mitch Staples!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Staples misses.
Staples ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hiroshiba moves away.
Hiroshiba gets tackled into the cage by Staples. Staples maintains the clinch.
Staples throws a head punch that misses.
Staples doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Staples misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Staples misses with a punch on the inside.
Hiroshiba turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hiroshiba manages to end up in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Staples is looking to reverse the position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Staples tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Hiroshiba easily slips into full mount!
Hiroshiba lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Hiroshiba landing strikes from the mount and Staples is in trouble!
Staples is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Hiroshiba has taken his back!

Hiroshiba doesn't have the hooks in and Staples manages to turn into his guard.
Staples trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hiroshiba's guard.

Staples must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Staples tries to stand but Hiroshiba is controlling from the bottom.
Staples wants to stand and escape but instead Hiroshiba has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Hiroshiba throws a big right hand that misses.
Hiroshiba stands up over Staples, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Staples has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hiroshiba off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Hiroshiba wants to land a leg kick but Staples is out of range.
Hiroshiba throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Staples tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hiroshiba is in Staples's guard.
Staples wants to sweep here but Hiroshiba controlling him for the moment.
Hiroshiba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Staples swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Staples wants to hit a switch here but Hiroshiba passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Staples there!
Staples looks gassed!
Hiroshiba has isolated one of Staples's arms. Staples looking to fight him off but Hiroshiba twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
