Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keemo Jakkar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keemo Jakkar had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Keemo Jakkar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pete Gonzalez!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez throws an overhand right that lands on Jakkar's shoulder, as Jakkar tries to avoid the shot.

Jakkar has managed to clinch.
Jakkar tries to land knees in the clinch but Gonzalez avoids the damage to the body.
Jakkar tries to land a knee to the head but Gonzalez blocks with his arms.
Jakkar misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Gonzalez.

Jakkar jumps guard and drags Gonzalez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Gonzalez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jakkar dives on top into guard.

Jakkar gets to his feet. Gonzalez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Jakkar shoots and misses

and Gonzalez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jakkar's guard now.
Jakkar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Gonzalez gets to his feet. Jakkar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jakkar scores with a nice body kick.
Jakkar stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jakkar wants it to stay on the feet.

Jakkar drives through and clinches with Gonzalez against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jakkar is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gonzalez is defending well for now.
Jakkar throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gonzalez blocks it with crossed arms.
Gonzalez misses with a punch on the inside.
Jakkar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gonzalez smiles and moves away.

Jakkar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jakkar tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gonzalez avoids it.

It looks like Pete Gonzalez has been cut.
Gonzalez looking for a takedown.
Gonzalez looks gassed!

Gonzalez gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Gonzalez thows a huge punch but Jakkar dodges it nicely.
Jakkar keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Gonzalez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gonzalez working over Jakkar with some ground and pound. Jakkar looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Gonzalez won't allow Jakkar to get back to his feet.

Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Jakkar keeps moving.
Gonzalez thows a big elbow that misses.

Gonzalez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jakkar is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gonzalez, into his guard.

Gonzalez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jakkar is aware though and is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gonzalez working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jakkar has passed into half guard!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jakkar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gonzalez as he avoids it easily.

Jakkar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gonzalez, pushing him back against the cage.
Jakkar unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gonzalez lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Jakkar misses with a knee to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Gonzalez fails to land.

Gonzalez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jakkar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gonzalez throws out the jab.

Jakkar takes the fight into the clinch.
Jakkar misses with a knee strike.
Gonzalez lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gonzalez swings wildly with an uppercut but Jakkar uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gonzalez fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Jakkar tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gonzalez just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jakkar is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gonzalez is defending well for now.
Gonzalez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jakkar manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Gonzalez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Keemo Jakkar just wasn't active enough.
Jakkar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gonzalez counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keemo Jakkar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gonzalez bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jakkar throws a head kick that misses

and Gonzalez counters with a shoot takedown. Jakkar fights it but they end up in guard.
Pete Gonzalez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Gonzalez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Jakkar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gonzalez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jakkar is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jakkar has escaped and now he's on top!

Gonzalez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jakkar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gonzalez throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jakkar uses it to pass to side control.
Gonzalez looking for a sweep but Jakkar has passed into full mount! Oh no!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jakkar tries to control but Gonzalez wriggling away.
Gonzalez tries to reverse the position but Jakkar maintains control.
Jakkar controlling from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Gonzalez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Pete Gonzalez's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Jakkar throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Gonzalez counters with a straight right hand.
Jakkar throws a push kick but Gonzalez slaps the foot to one side.
Jakkar shoots and misses
enabling Gonzalez to counter with a crisp jab.

Jakkar moves into the clinch.
Jakkar trying to land knees to the body.
Gonzalez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Gonzalez blocks an elbow strike from Jakkar.

Gonzalez looking for a guillotine here but Jakkar defends easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jakkar stands up.
Jakkar misses with a body kick.
Jakkar throws a sloppy head kick and Gonzalez moves out of range easily.
Keemo Jakkar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jakkar clinches.
Jakkar unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Gonzalez takes a knee right on the jaw!
Jakkar landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Keemo Jakkar has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Gonzalez stops a takedown attempt from Jakkar.
Jakkar tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Gonzalez cracks Jakkar with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Jakkar fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Gonzalez tries to keep at a distance but Jakkar has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jakkar connects with a nasty looking knee right to Gonzalez's face.
Jakkar is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gonzalez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Gonzalez throws a good cross that connects.
Gonzalez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gonzalez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jakkar is trying to defend but Gonzalez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jakkar tries to kick Gonzalez off but Gonzalez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Gonzalez is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Gonzalez extends the arm and Jakkar is forced to tap!
