Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Montross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Hickson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Montross!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montross with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hickson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Montross closes the distance and pushes Hickson back into the cage.
Hickson tries to pull guard but Montross holds him up against the cage and eventually Hickson drops back down to his feet.

Montross escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hickson tries to clinch up.

Hickson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Montross tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hickson is in Montross's guard.
Hickson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Montross is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Montross tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hickson stays in close to Montross's body and controls the position.
Hickson scoring with some ground and pound.

Hickson stands up and waves to Montross to follow him.

Hickson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hickson stands up and beckons Montross to his feet.
Marcus Montross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hickson shoots in and bounces Montross off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hickson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hickson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Montross for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matt Hickson just wasn't active enough.

Montross clinches up against the cage.
Hickson is trying to force a seperation but Montross has the dominant position.
Hickson misses with a punch on the inside.
Hickson prevents Montross from breaking the clinch.

Montross breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Montross looks gassed!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hickson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hickson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Montross gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Hickson controlling the pace for now.
Montross is bucking up trying to escape but Hickson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Hickson loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Montross scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Hickson land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Hickson stands and salutes the crowd.
