PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bembol Oblaks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikola Perovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Bembol Oblaks has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bembol Oblaks seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bembol Oblaks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nikola Perovic!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perovic gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Oblaks counters with a shoot takedown. Perovic fights it but they end up in guard.
Oblaks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perovic swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Perovic looking to hit a scissor sweep but Oblaks is one step ahead there.

Oblaks drops back looking for a leg! Perovic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Perovic manages to kick Oblaks off! Oblaks jumps back into Perovic's guard.
Oblaks showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Perovic keeping moving, preventing Oblaks from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bembol Oblaks.

Perovic shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Oblaks throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Perovic escapes and throws Oblaks's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Oblaks is looking for a sweep.
Oblaks parries the strikes from Perovic easily there. Perovic is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Oblaks to escape.
Perovic tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Perovic trying to control the position but Oblaks is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oblaks is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Oblaks is trying to control Perovic's posture but Perovic avoids it.
Oblaks manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Oblaks wants to get back to full guard.
Perovic wants to take a breather but Oblaks is having none of it.
Oblaks is looking to control Perovic's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Oblaks avoid being mounted?
Still in half guard, Perovic seems content to control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nikola Perovic hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Oblaks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Oblaks content to stall in guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Oblaks has gone for a leg lock! Perovic slips out almost immediately though and dives into Oblaks's guard.
Oblaks keeping moving, preventing Perovic from controlling successfully.

Oblaks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Perovic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Perovic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Perovic trying to control the position from guard on top but Oblaks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Oblaks is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Perovic trying to control but Oblaks is working from the bottom.
Perovic distracts Oblaks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oblaks is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Oblaks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Perovic controls the pace.
Oblaks has his hands on Perovic's head, controlling the position.
Perovic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oblaks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Perovic throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Oblaks works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Perovic throws a big right hand that misses.

Oblaks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Perovic defends it easily.
Perovic in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Perovic wants to control from the top but Oblaks keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bembol Oblaks dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Oblaks throws a leg kick

and Perovic counters with a single leg into guard. Oblaks didn't expect that.
Perovic postures up.
Perovic trying to control but Oblaks is working from the bottom.
Perovic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Oblaks controls Perovic momentarily but Perovic frees himself.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Perovic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bembol Oblaks just wasn't active enough.

Oblaks closes the distance and clinches.
Oblaks tries to break the clinch but Perovic is controlling the position.

Oblaks is trying to trip Perovic. He has hold of a leg but Perovic is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Oblaks persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Oblaks wants to control from the top but Perovic keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Perovic keeping full guard, as Oblaks tries to pass.
Oblaks stopping the sweep attempt from Perovic.
Perovic throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Perovic is pulling down on Oblaks's head to control his posture.
Bembol Oblaks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oblaks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perovic swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Oblaks trying to control but Perovic is working from the bottom.

Oblaks drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Oblaks as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Perovic screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Oblaks! Nice submission victory there!
