Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert De Niro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson has chosen The game as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Niro closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - De Niro lands in his opponent's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Thompson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

De Niro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thompson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Thompson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Thompson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. De Niro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
De Niro manages to work his way to half guard, despite Thompson's best efforts.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
