Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Orlando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Orlando comes to the cage accompanied by the time. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Orlando!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Omar Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cortez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Orlando napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Orlando is pushing Cortez's head away, looking to escape. Cortez manages to hold on to the position though.
Cortez looks up at the clock and then as Orlando takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cortez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Cortez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cortez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Orlando is looking for a sweep.

Orlando wants to get back to his feet.
Cortez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Orlando takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Orlando is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cortez off and has taken his back!

Cortez is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Orlando gets his way!

Cortez needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.

Orlando slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Cortez winds up and cracks Orlando with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cortez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Orlando. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cortez connects with a nice short shot to Orlando's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You get the feeling that Orlando really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Cortez has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Orlando's face.
Orlando is bucking up trying to escape but Cortez cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cortez cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cortez lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Cortez is landing with some decent strikes but Orlando is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Orlando tries to reverse the position but Cortez maintains control.

Cortez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Orlando manages to avoid the submission attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Orlando gets caught flat footed, as Cortez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Cortez throws and elbow that misses. Orlando uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cortez's guard. Nice move by Orlando!
Orlando tries to stand but Cortez is controlling from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Orlando accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cortez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Orlando's guard.
Cortez stands up over Orlando, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Cortez advances position into side control!
Cortez lands a nice forearm strike.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Omar Cortez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cortez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Cortez looks up at the clock and then as Orlando takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cortez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Cortez has hold of Orlando's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Orlando tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Cortez cranks the arm and Orlando screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Orlando, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Omar Cortez!
