The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fruithead instigates a clinch.
Fruithead blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Fruithead with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Fruithead is fighting off a takedown attempt but Arona is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Fruithead to the mat. Fruithead regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fruithead is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Arona thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fruithead is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like Kyle Fruithead has been cut.
Arona stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fruithead swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fruithead lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Arona!

Arona has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Arona suckers Fruithead into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Arona is now in Fruithead's guard!

Arona looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fruithead with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fruithead seems to be working for a kimura but Arona defends the submission attempt.
Fruithead is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Arona won't allow Fruithead to get back to his feet.

Fruithead drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Arona dives on top into guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Arona postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
