Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fred Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fred Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sammy Sullivan!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone shoots for a double leg takedown but Sullivan sprawls well. He's pushed Stone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Stone showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sullivan.
Stone throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Stone looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Stone lands strikes from half guard.
Sullivan is pressing down on Stone's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Stone pushing down on Sullivan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stone is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sullivan has managed to free his arm - good work.

Stone is looking for a kimura but Sullivan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stone to get the leverage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sullivan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sullivan is looking to control Stone's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sullivan avoid being mounted?
Sullivan tries to get to full guard but Stone has control of the leg.

Stone is working for an americana but Sullivan has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Stone was thinking about the submission.
Sullivan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Stone working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stone is pushing down on Sullivan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sullivan is fighting to maintain full guard but Stone has managed to sneak the leg through.

Stone seems to be working for a kimura but Sullivan defends the submission attempt.
Stone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sullivan keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Stone is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sullivan sees it coming and defends easily.
Sullivan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Stone scores with a couple of nice shots.

Stone looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stone throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Sullivan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stone is working for a kimura but Sullivan is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sullivan is not content to let Stone control the position.

Stone is looking for a kimura here.

Stone is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Stone seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stone wants to control but Sullivan is keeping him busy.
Sullivan blocking the ground and pound attempt from Stone.
Stone tries to pass to full mount but Sullivan defends it.
Sullivan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Stone trying to work for an americana but Sullivan has managed to regain full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stone being controlled here momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Stone dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Stone shoots in looking for a takedown. Sullivan tries to sprawl out of it but Stone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sullivan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stone fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sullivan misses with a few strikes there.
Sullivan lands a jab to Stone's midsection.
Sullivan scores with a body shot.
Sullivan moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Sullivan stuffs the takedown attempt from Stone. Stone gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sullivan catches Stone with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


Stone is rocked!
Sullivan lands a nice hook to Stone's body. Stone takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stone takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Stone throws a jab but it's blocked by Sullivan.

Stone moves into the clinch successfully.

Sullivan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sullivan ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Oooooh!!! Sullivan has knocked Stone down with a huge combo! Sullivan steps away and waves a wobbly Stone back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Oh Stone is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!


It looks like Fred Stone has been cut.
Fred Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sullivan scores with a hook to the body. Stone takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sullivan misses with a double jab.
Sullivan batters Stone with a massive right followed by a huge left! Stone is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Sullivan lands a final crushing right hand to drop Stone to the mat with a gruesome thud! Sullivan is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sammy Sullivan!
