Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Petey Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith's entrance music is Inside The Fire by Disturbed. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Petey Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter King!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
King throws a left and a right that both miss
and Smith connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Smith slips under a jab from King.
Smith slips under a jab.
King throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smith takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.


It looks like Petey Smith has been cut.
King lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Donk. King catches Smith right on the button with a cross.
King misses with an uppercut.
King throws a lazy uppercut
and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
King fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.
King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
King swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Smith thows a big elbow that misses.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard.
King wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith pushing down on King's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Smith wants to work for an arm triangle but King is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
King is controlling Smith's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
King wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
Smith thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.

King is trying to stand up here but Smith is controlling him well.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and King defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King makes his way to full guard. A much better position for King.
Smith throws and elbow that misses. King uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Smith's guard. Nice move by King!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smith is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and King dives into side control.
Smith tries to escape but King is in control.

King stands up and beckons Smith to his feet.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
King scores with a jab. Smith acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Smith is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
King misses with a hook. Smith ducked under it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter King dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Petey Smith's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

King throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
King throws a combination that misses

and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in King's guard now.
King has control of Smith's left arm, preventing Smith from doing any damage.
King wants to stand and escape but Smith is having none of it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! King is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! King has escaped and now he's on top!

King gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

King throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
King is trying to stand.

Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. King doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.
Smith not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Smith seems to be looking for submissions.

Smith is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

King is pressing down on Smith's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
King is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

King kicks Smith off and gets to his feet.
Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but King avoids it really well and circles away.
King misses with a combination

and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in King's guard now.
King is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
Smith could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Smith wants to pass the guard but King is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.
King would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Smith manages to escape and get back to his feet.
King cracks Smith with a good jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King misses with a double jab

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
King is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Smith in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Smith drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but King manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Smith has King in his guard.
King wants to stand but Smith has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


King misses with a hook

and Smith counters with a single leg into guard. King didn't expect that.

King uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Smith defending well as King loads up on a big left hand.
King ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from King.
King rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from King.
Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with King but King pushes him off and we're back to square one.
King misses with a left hand

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in King's guard.
Smith won't allow King to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

King uses the cage to get back to his feet.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King throws a poor cross that misses

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in King's guard.

Smith drops back, looking for a kneebar! King looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. King looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from King!

King has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Smith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from King.
Petey Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
King throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King misses with the combination.
King looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
King's jab looks to have found its range, popping Smith under the eye.
King is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
King just misses with a punch to the body.
King punishes Smith's body with a nice straight punch.
King throws a looping overhand right but Smith ducks down to avoid it.
Peter King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by King!
King throws a poor cross that misses

and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for King!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smith swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and King is now in Smith's guard. A big mistake from Smith there, giving up the dominant position!
Petey Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King is looking to stand up but Smith won't let him.
Smith is looking to stand back up but King counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Smith.
Smith is trying to stand up here but King is controlling him well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Smith makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
King fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
King lands a jab to the head.
King stalks Smith and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smith's face. Smith staggers backwards, shaken.
King throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Smith displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as King throws out the jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice hook.
King lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Peter King.
I think King has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
