PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buzzkill McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quik Yin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGee comes into the arena with Boss of all Bosses - Slim Thug blaring out of the sound system. Yin has chosen I Got A Feeling (lol :P) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buzzkill McGee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quik Yin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yin throws a lazy uppercut
and Yin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McGee tries to clinch but Yin is having none of it.
McGee is looking to land body kicks.
Yin throws a sloppy body shot
and McGee counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Yin thinking.
McGee shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
McGee throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Yin counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
McGee lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Yin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping McGee at a distance.
McGee wants to clinch.
McGee takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGee just misses with a punch to the body.
McGee misses with a body punch

and Yin counters with a takedown into side control.
Yin wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGee keeps working.
Yin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for McGee!

Yin looking to control but McGee is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McGee is desperately trying to improve his position but Yin has a good base and remains in mount.
McGee knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yin on the ground.
Yin tries to control but McGee wriggling away.
McGee has given up his back here. Will Yin look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Yin keeps control of the position easily here as McGee tries to buck him off.
McGee trying to control the position but Yin manages to sink in the hooks.

Even with his hooks in, Yin manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Yin missing with punches from the back.
Yin misses with a punch to the head.
Yin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Yin not allowing McGee to control his hands.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McGee turns into Yin and is now in his guard.

Yin looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McGee passes into side control.
McGee trying to control the action but Yin is working from the bottom.
Yin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quik Yin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Yin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Yin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Quik Yin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McGee.
McGee throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Yin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McGee struggling a bit here.
McGee tries to buck Yin off but Yin is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on McGee's face as Yin controls the position.

The strikes coming from Yin are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
McGee trying to control but Yin flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Yin is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but McGee has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
McGee rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
McGee is looking to control Yin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McGee avoid being mounted?

McGee wants to get back to full guard.

McGee looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Yin is keen to just control but McGee is a slippery customer.
McGee avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Yin.

Yin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McGee defends it well.

McGee wants to control but Yin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McGee is not content to let Yin control the position.
Yin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Yin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Yin lands strikes from half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yin in particular looking to stall.
Yin wants to take a breather but McGee is having none of it.
Yin trying to advance position but McGee counters by regaining guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Yin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McGee is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quik Yin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


McGee throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Yin on the side of the head.

and Yin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McGee sizes up Yin with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
McGee misses with a right hand
and Yin counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Yin lands a jab to the head.
McGee connects with a leg kick. Yin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Yin shoots in for a double leg but McGee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Yin ducks right into an uppercut from McGee.
McGee connects with a body shot that sends Yin's belly button to the back.
Yin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McGee throws a leg kick but Yin checks it.
McGee connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


It looks like Quik Yin has been cut.
Yin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Buzzkill McGee is winning the standup battle so far.
Yin tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McGee pivots, looking for a leg kick but Yin is out of range and McGee settles back down.
Yin misses with a shot to the body
and McGee counters with a lovely straight right hand!
McGee looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
McGee throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Yin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McGee throws a shot to the body.
McGee misses with an attempted mid kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yin ducks under a wild hook from McGee.
A big right from McGee misses.
McGee scores with a spinning back kick!
McGee misses with a looping right.
McGee swinging wildly here.
McGee lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
McGee connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Yin takes one on the button.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yin stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McGee.
McGee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yin manages to avoid it.
Yin with a poor takedown
and McGee counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
McGee connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
McGee throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Buzzkill McGee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
McGee throws a chopping leg kick but Yin manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
McGee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
McGee misses with a straight left.
Yin takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGee connects with a good right hand that stumbles Yin. Yin circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Good leg kick by McGee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
McGee throws a head kick that Yin semi-blocks.
A looping hook to the body misses from McGee. Yin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nice jab there from McGee.
McGee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yin manages to avoid it.
McGee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McGee wants it to stay on the feet.
Buzzkill McGee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quik Yin.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGee missing with a left hand there. Yin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
McGee lands with a slapping head kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Buzzkill McGee showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Yin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
