PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Sky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sky is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Papa Roach - Last Resort. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Bruce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sammy Sky!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bruce gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Bruce breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bruce Bruce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sky has a takedown stuffed.
Sky tries a head kick but it misses.

Sky closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The strikes coming from Sky are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Sky is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bruce has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bruce manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Sky stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bruce to get to his feet.
Sky fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bruce tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bruce shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sky but Sky pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bruce tries to close the distance and clinch but Sky swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sky closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Bruce Bruce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sammy Sky.
Sky goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bruce prevents it.

Bruce manages to break the clinch.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Bruce.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sky takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Bruce landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Sky drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Sky wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Sky goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bruce prevents it.
Sky wants to break free but Bruce has control.
Sky wants to get back to striking at distance but Bruce won't allow it.
Bruce on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Sky throws an elbow that misses.
Sky wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bruce has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sky looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Sky lands a damaging elbow.
Sky has Bruce pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bruce manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Bruce just leaning against Sky, taking a breather.
Sky is trying to break the clinch but Bruce has him pressed against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Bruce.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Bruce Bruce.
Sky avoids the head kick by Bruce.
Sky wants to clinch

and Bruce holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Sky is looking to break free of the clinch but Bruce has double underhooks.

Sky breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sky has a takedown stuffed.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sky.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bruce Bruce will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Bruce has Sky pushed against the cage.

Sky trying to stall but Bruce improves his position.

Bruce breaks the clinch.

and Sky counters with a shoot takedown. Bruce fights it but they end up in guard.
Bruce controls Sky momentarily but Sky frees himself.
Sky forces his way into half guard.
Sky tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Bruce controlling the position for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sky wants to stand up but Bruce is controlling the position.
Sky wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bruce keeps working.
Bruce wants to control but Sky is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sky looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bruce with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sky stands up and beckons Bruce to join him on the feet.
Sky shoots in for a double leg but Bruce sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bruce tries to clinch up but Sky circles away and keeps his distance.
Sky shoots in and drives through. Bruce sprawls well.
A lazy body kick from Bruce
and Sky counters with a left right combination that sends Bruce crashing to the mat - Sky wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Bruce out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sammy Sky!
