Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Ruska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boston Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Ruska!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Gracie darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Ruska avoids the body shot from Gracie.
Ruska dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ruska fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gracie.
Gracie gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ruska to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ruska wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.
Ruska trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ruska prevents Gracie from getting back to his feet.

Dan Ruska has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Gracie darts in trying to clinch
and Ruska makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Ruska throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ruska's guard.
Ruska is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ruska bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gracie's guard.

Gracie has one foot on Ruska's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gracie takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Ruska keeps the fight on the outside.
Ruska lands a leg kick that knocks Gracie off balance momentarily.
Ruska throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ruska darts in and clinches Gracie up against the cage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Ruska.
Ruska lands a shoulder strike.
Ruska misses with some punches.
Ruska throws a head punch that misses.

Ruska lands a takedown into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ruska tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gracie looks to land a right hand but Ruska moved out of range.

Ruska lunges at Gracie with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gracie's hand.
Ruska throws a low kick but Gracie moves out of range easily.
Some bone on bone action there as Ruska checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Gracie has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gracie there as he acknowledges the shot.
Dan Ruska seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A bone on bone clash there as Gracie blocks the leg kick.
Gracie ducks under a wild hook from Ruska.
Gracie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ruska lands with a cross.
Ruska throws a jab when Gracie was well out of range.
Ruska moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Gracie paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nice defenses there by Gracie.
Ruska is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ruska.
Ruska attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ruska's guard now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ruska throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

A close second round but Boston Gracie will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Ruska rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

so Gracie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Ruska is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gracie is controlling him.

Boston Gracie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gracie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
