The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galvo tries for a takedown but Mendes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Mendes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Galvo sprawls well initially but Mendes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like Mendes is going to stand back up.
Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Galvo keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Galvo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mendes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Galvo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mendes's back instead.
