PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Zubersoft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Flash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zubersoft kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Metallica - Enter Sandman. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, David Zubersoft!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Flash!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zubersoft throws a nice looking combination but Flash bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Zubersoft misses with a right hand
letting Flash counter with a right hand.
Flash fails with the takedown.
Flash on the wrong end of a nice jab.


It looks like Jeff Flash has been cut.
Zubersoft tries to clinch there but Flash circles away.

Flash drives through with a takedown into guard.
Zubersoft controls Flash momentarily but Flash frees himself.

Flash drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Zubersoft dives on top into guard.
Flash looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Zubersoft slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Zubersoft trying to control the position from guard on top but Flash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Flash is pulling down on Zubersoft's head. It's preventing any offense from Zubersoft, at least for the moment.
Zubersoft trying to control but Flash is working from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because David Zubersoft wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Flash fails with a takedown attempt.
Zubersoft throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Flash counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Flash.
Flash stands up over Zubersoft, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Flash looking to pass the guard.
Zubersoft is trying to keep Flash in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flash trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Zubersoft has Flash pulled in close to control his posture.
Flash in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Zubersoft is trying to control the position but Flash postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of David Zubersoft.

and Zubersoft counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
David Zubersoft has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Flash.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Flash holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Flash is trying to get back to full guard.
Flash is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Flash controlling the position for now.
Zubersoft is looking to take a break and control but Flash is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Flash trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Flash holds on, trying desperately to control.
Flash is working to get back to half guard.

Zubersoft working for a guillotine from mount but Flash is in no mood to give up.
Flash manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Flash is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Zubersoft seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Flash wants to get back to full guard.

Zubersoft trying to control the action but Flash is working from the bottom.
Flash has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zubersoft is working away from the top position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up. David Zubersoft wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Zubersoft throws a leg kick but Flash moved away.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Flash swats away the attempt to clinch by Zubersoft.
Flash shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zubersoft as he avoids it easily.
Zubersoft keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

and Flash counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Zubersoft's guard now.
Flash slips nicely into half guard.
Flash thows a huge punch but Zubersoft dodges it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Flash looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Zubersoft with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zubersoft is looking to improve his position.
Flash throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jeff Flash will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jeff Flash's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Flash with a poor takedown

and Zubersoft counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Zubersoft won't allow Flash to sweep him here.
Zubersoft trying to control but Flash is working from the bottom.
Flash seems keen to control Zubersoft's posture.
Zubersoft wants to control from the top but Flash keeps moving.

David Zubersoft has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Zubersoft is trying hard to land a takedown here. Flash sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Zubersoft tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Flash swivels and escapes.

Flash shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zubersoft's guard.
Zubersoft is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Flash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zubersoft swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Flash drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Zubersoft manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Flash has Zubersoft in his guard.

Flash is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Flash wants to sweep but no luck.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Zubersoft wants to clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Flash shoots in looking for a takedown but Zubersoft manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Flash's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Zubersoft waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Flash.
Flash avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Zubersoft lands with a hook. Flash tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Flash's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Zubersoft connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Flash scrambles back to his feet.

and Flash counters with a takedown into side control.

Flash wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zubersoft, who protects the arm well.
Flash landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Zubersoft might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Zubersoft is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Flash's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Flash trying to control the action but Zubersoft is working from the bottom.

Flash is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Zubersoft sees it coming and defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zubersoft keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Zubersoft looks like he's trying to stand up.

Flash looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jeff Flash has got the better of the ground game so far.
Zubersoft has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Flash is working away from the top position though.
Flash is looking to advance position but Zubersoft won't allow it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Flash is looking for a kimura but Zubersoft is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Flash to get the leverage.

Flash is trying for a kimura here. Zubersoft looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Flash wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jeff Flash!
