The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dames fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Dames shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Taymazov pinned against the cage. Taymazov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dames shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Taymazov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Taymazov is trying to escape the position but Dames is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dolby Dames was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Dames fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Taymazov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Taymazov displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dames throws out the jab.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Taymazov tries to bum rush Dames with a series of wild strikes but Dames uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Taymazov has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Taymazov there as he acknowledges the shot.
Dames closes the distance and clinches.
Dames tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Taymazov's elbow.
A short body shot lands from Dames as the two fighters clinch.
Dames lands a hook that snaps the head of Taymazov backwards.

Dames is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Let's hope that Dames has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dames slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Dames is working to tighten is grip on Taymazov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Taymazov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Dames is really squeezing tight and eventually Taymazov passes out! Dames breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
