PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Miroslav Olipko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micheal De Atrmus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miroslav Olipko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Micheal De Atrmus!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olipko shoots in and drives through. De Atrmus sprawls well.

Olipko forces De Atrmus back against the cage and clinches.
Olipko tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. De Atrmus just stands there and leans against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Olipko has De Atrmus pressed against the cage, preventing De Atrmus from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Olipko stalling.
Olipko throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Olipko is working for takedown but De Atrmus is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miroslav Olipko. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Micheal De Atrmus has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Olipko closes the distance and pushes De Atrmus back into the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
De Atrmus gets underhooks to prevent Olipko's takedown attempt.
Olipko has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. De Atrmus is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
De Atrmus wants to break free but Olipko has control.
Olipko on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Olipko prevents De Atrmus from breaking the clinch.

De Atrmus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Olipko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, De Atrmus has managed to get both his arms back between Olipko's legs - danger averted.

Olipko wants to stand up but De Atrmus is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De Atrmus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Olipko is keeping the position for now.

Olipko is looking for a triangle but De Atrmus pushes his legs off easily.
De Atrmus would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Micheal De Atrmus hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
De Atrmus doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Olipko counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Olipko.
Olipko tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and De Atrmus avoids it.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. De Atrmus obliges.

De Atrmus tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Olipko just stands there and leans against the cage.
Olipko is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Olipko creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
De Atrmus gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Olipko.
Olipko is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Miroslav Olipko will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Olipko manages to pull guard.
De Atrmus thows a big elbow that misses.

Olipko pushes De Atrmus off and scrambles back to his feet.
Olipko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and De Atrmus counters with a solid body kick.
De Atrmus wants to clinch but Olipko slips to the side
and Olipko counters with a nice body kick.
De Atrmus fails with an attempt to clinch.

Olipko moves into the clinch.

Olipko tries to score a body lock takedown but De Atrmus shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

De Atrmus is trying to break the clinch but Olipko has him pressed against the cage.

Olipko has picked De Atrmus up - he's going for a ride! Olipko dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
De Atrmus wants to improve his position but Olipko is controlling well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Olipko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! De Atrmus is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Olipko, into his guard.

Olipko is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Olipko is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Olipko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

De Atrmus tries to land a sweep but no joy.
De Atrmus throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Olipko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but De Atrmus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Olipko has De Atrmus in his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
De Atrmus looking to sit in guard and control but Olipko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Olipko has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes De Atrmus off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Olipko throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. De Atrmus tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Olipko is in De Atrmus's guard.

De Atrmus utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

De Atrmus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Olipko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but De Atrmus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Olipko has De Atrmus in his guard.
Olipko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Miroslav Olipko is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
De Atrmus throws a strike but Olipko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

And that's the end of the fight!
Miroslav Olipko showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Olipko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
