Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Mufflin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Mufflin!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos throws a sloppy head kick and Mufflin moves out of range easily.

Santos tries to sprawl but Mufflin drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Santos throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mufflin is looking to advance position but Santos won't allow it.
Santos wants to get back to full guard.
Santos is holding on to half guard well.
Mufflin content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Santos is looking for a sweep. Mufflin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Santos controlling the position for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mufflin uses his free foot to push down on Santos's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Santos.

Santos is looking to get to half guard.
Mufflin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Santos is in all sorts of trouble here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mufflin is working away from the top position though.

Let's hope that Mufflin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Mufflin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Santos's half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mufflin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

and Mufflin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Santos won't be happy with that.

Mufflin is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Santos's shoulder. That is not cool.

Mufflin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Santos has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mufflin works to advance to full mount. Santos defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Santos tries to hold on but Mufflin pushes him away.
Mufflin controlling the position easily from mount.
Mufflin prevents Santos from getting the reversal.
Mufflin controlling the pace for now.
Santos is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Derek Mufflin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Mufflin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Santos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mufflin on the ground.

Derek Mufflin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Santos wants to stand and escape but Mufflin is having none of it.
Santos wants to sweep here but Mufflin controlling him for the moment.
Mufflin stays in close to Santos's body and controls the position.
Tyson Santos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Santos looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mufflin has picked Santos up and slammed him! Santos can't keep hold of the triangle and Mufflin manages to pass to side control!

Derek Mufflin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mufflin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
