2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Grapler Grapling! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Jenkins! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jenkins doesn't manage to clinch there - Grapling circles away.
Jenkins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Grapling manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Grapling working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jenkins. Grapling has his foot on Jenkins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jenkins works his way back into a safe position though. Jenkins trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Jenkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Grapling is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Jenkins is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Grapling is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jenkins is aware though and is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Grapling with a poor takedown and Jenkins counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Grapling's guard now. Jenkins thows a big elbow that misses. Jenkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Grapling is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jenkins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grapling has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jenkins has managed to get both his arms back between Grapling's legs - danger averted. Jenkins slips nicely into half guard. Jenkins controlling the pace.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Jenkins throwing shots but Grapling is blocking nicely. Jenkins is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Grapling sees it coming and defends easily. Jenkins is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Grapling! Grapling blocking the ground and pound. Jenkins moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Grapling has worked his arm free - good work by Grapling!

Mark Jenkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
