Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Cobos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Tommy Stevens enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lucas Cobos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Stevens!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stevens closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cobos to the mat! Cobos manages to get full guard.
Stevens would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but Cobos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stevens trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cobos's guard.

Stevens is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Stevens wants to stand but Cobos is controlling his posture from full guard.

Stevens decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stevens tries to clinch but Cobos moves out of range.
Stevens shoots in for a double leg but Cobos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Cobos takes the fight into the clinch.
Cobos wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Stevens has him pressed against the cage.
Stevens will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Cobos up against the cage.
Stevens tries to land knees in the clinch but Cobos avoids the damage to the body.

Cobos has picked Stevens up - he's going for a ride! Cobos dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stevens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stevens flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Stevens has hold of Cobos's hands but Cobos slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Stevens trying to hold on to Cobos's head to control him but Cobos postures up.

Cobos working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Cobos trying to control from Stevens's half guard. Stevens has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Stevens is trying to keep Cobos in close.
Cobos is breathing heavily.
Stevens tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cobos trying to control but Stevens is working from the bottom.
Cobos prevents Stevens from getting back to his feet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stevens is on top in guard.

Stevens wants to get up but he can't break Cobos's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Stevens stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Cobos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stevens paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Stevens gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cobos.
Stevens prevents the takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tommy Stevens will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Cobos keeps the fight on the outside.
Stevens looks to clinch

and Cobos counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cobos.
Cobos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Stevens wants to stand and escape but Cobos is having none of it.
Stevens is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Stevens is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Stevens is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cobos wants to control from the top but Stevens keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A hook to the body from Cobos.
Stevens looking for a takedown.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Cobos is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Stevens gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Cobos tries to circle away but Stevens has him pinned against the cage.
Come on Stevens - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Cobos tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Stevens smiles and moves away.
Cobos displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stevens.

A combination from Stevens does no damage.
Stevens shoots in looking for a takedown. Cobos tries to sprawl out of it but Stevens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cobos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lucas Cobos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Stevens.

Cobos tries for a takedown but Stevens manages to get underhooks.

Stevens manages to escape and get back to his feet.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Cobos.

Cobos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stevens is trying to defend but Cobos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

and Cobos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stevens's guard.

Cobos gets to his feet. Stevens looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Stevens fails to land with a series of punches.
Cobos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stevens pinned against the cage. Stevens gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cobos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cobos is trying to drag Stevens to the mat but Stevens just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Stevens pulls guard effortlessly.
Cobos won't allow Stevens to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cobos postures up.
Cobos lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


The fight stays on the outside here - Cobos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cobos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Stevens struggling a bit here.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Cobos here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Stevens is not content to let Cobos control the position.
Stevens gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Stevens regains full guard. Nicely done.

Stevens is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stevens wants to sweep here but Cobos controlling him for the moment.
Cobos looking to sit in guard and control but Stevens gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cobos keeping moving, preventing Stevens from controlling successfully.

Cobos pushes Stevens off and gets back to his feet.
Stevens looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cobos is fending him off so far but Stevens persists. Nope, Cobos circles away and we're back to standing.
Stevens tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cobos was well out of range. Poor timing from Stevens.
Cobos uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stevens.

Cobos throws a sloppy head kick and Stevens moves out of range easily.
Cobos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Stevens will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cobos dives in and grabs Stevens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stevens pushes down on Cobos's head and hops out.
Cobos swats away the attempt to clinch by Stevens.
Stevens tries to clinch but Cobos moves out of range.
Stevens lunges at Cobos with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Cobos's hand.
Stevens fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lucas Cobos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Stevens.

Stevens gets the takedown into side control.

Stevens decides to stand back up.
Stevens fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cobos wants to clinch up but Stevens keeps it at a distance.
Cobos stuffs the takedown.

Cobos closes the distance and clinches.
Stevens fails to pull guard.
Stevens trying to stall but Cobos improves his position.
Cobos lands with a short shot to the head.

Cobos breaks the clinch.
Cobos misses with a straight right.

Stevens moves into the clinch.
Cobos lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Cobos has Stevens pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cobos pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Stevens tumbling to the mat - Cobos dives into Stevens's guard.
Cobos in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lucas Cobos.
I think Cobos has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
