PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Anson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corbett comes into the arena with ... blaring out of the sound system. Anson has chosen ''South of Heaven'' by The Electric Hellfire Club as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Corbett, right into the meat.

Anson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Anson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Corbett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Corbett is trying to stand up here but Anson is controlling him well.

Anson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Anson is nestled in close to Corbett, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Anson connects with a nice short shot to Corbett's temple.

Corbett is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Anson pulls his head out easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Corbett has momentary wrist control but Anson slips an elbow through the middle.

Corbett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Anson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Anson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Anson wants to control from the top but Corbett keeps moving.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Corbett shoots in for a double leg but Anson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Corbett throws a low kick but it's checked well by Anson.
Corbett tries to score with a low kick but Anson moves his leg out of the way.
Anson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Anson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Nice defenses there by Anson.
Anson throws the left hand but Corbett avoids the punch easily.
Seth Anson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Anson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Anson looks to land a right hand but Corbett moved out of range.

and Corbett connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Corbett feints a jab promting Anson to slip. Corbett then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Anson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Anson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Corbett counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Anson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Anson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Corbett was well out of range. Poor timing from Anson.
Corbett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Anson.

Anson throws a jab when Corbett was well out of range.
Anson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Corbett can pounce on him.

letting Anson counter with a right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Seth Anson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Corbett has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anson is working away from the top position though.
Anson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Corbett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Anson postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Corbett in real trouble here! The ref calls for Corbett to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
