Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dunder Mifflin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Lisser! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lisser gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mifflin to score an easy takedown into full guard. Lisser has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Lisser is trying to control the position but Mifflin postures up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lisser can do anything to dispel that myth. Mifflin trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Lisser manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Lisser prevents Mifflin from getting back to his feet. Mifflin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lisser on the ground. Lisser loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lisser trying to control but Mifflin is working from the bottom. Lisser sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mifflin's guard. Lisser is trying to control the action in half guard but Mifflin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mifflin is looking to control Lisser's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mifflin avoid being mounted? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lisser is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lisser seems to be looking for submissions.
Mifflin wants to control but Lisser is keeping busy.
Lisser trying to pass the guard but Mifflin defending well. Lisser is looking to take a break and control but Mifflin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mifflin is looking for a sweep. Lisser is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mifflin is working hard here to advance position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Lisser is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mifflin! Lisser connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Lisser avoids the attempt from Mifflin to control. Mifflin is trying to escape the mount.
Lisser trying to control but Mifflin is having none of it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mifflin wants to hold on but Lisser pushes him away. Lisser wants to control the pace but Mifflin is squirming around nicely. Mifflin tries to hold on but Lisser postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lisser cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lisser lands a nice shot to the head. Lisser fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lisser trying to control but Mifflin is having none of it. Lisser prevents Mifflin from getting the reversal. Mifflin takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Lisser's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Lisser!
