PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Rollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coleman comes to the cage accompanied by Superstar by Lupe Fiasco. Rollins is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Everyday Normal Guy. Neil Rollins told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derrick Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Neil Rollins!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rollins throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Coleman's head.

Coleman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rollins is not content to let Coleman control the position.
Rollins is looking for a sweep.
Rollins throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Coleman sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rollins is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Coleman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rollins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rollins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Coleman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Coleman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Coleman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rollins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Rollins has hold of Coleman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Coleman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman is in all sorts of trouble here.

Coleman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Coleman is pulling down on Rollins's head to control his posture.

That was a close round but I would say that Derrick Coleman will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

No joy there for Rollins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rollins uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Coleman has time to react.

Coleman takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Coleman misses with a takedown attempt - Rollins sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derrick Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rollins moves in looking to clinch but Coleman pushes him off.
Coleman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Rollins rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coleman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Coleman tries to break the clinch but Rollins is controlling the position.

Coleman tries to pull guard but Rollins holds him up against the cage and eventually Coleman drops back down to his feet.

Rollins lands an elbow that stopped Coleman in his tracks for a moment.
Coleman changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rollins fights it off and pushes away nicely.
