The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurvits closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gurvits is trying to work for a kimura but Sobolev is defending well.
Gurvits is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sobolev sees it coming and defends easily.
Gurvits is trying to control the action in half guard but Sobolev is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gurvits is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sobolev has managed to free his arm - good work.
Gurvits works his way into side control.
Sobolev is trying to escape the position but Gurvits is controlling the position.
Gurvits tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Gurvits tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gurvits has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

You can see the frustration on Sobolev's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sobolev is breathing heavily.
Gurvits is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sobolev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sobolev is looking for a sweep.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gurvits wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sobolev keeps working.
Sobolev wants to control but Gurvits postures up.
Gurvits is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sobolev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gurvits working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Sobolev is not content to let Gurvits control the position.

Gurvits should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Gurvits working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Gurvits is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Sobolev looks calm but he's in trouble here. Gurvits gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Sobolev is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Gurvits lets go of the hold and Sobolev can pop his arm back in it's socket.
