PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Beebus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beebus is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I'm about to WHOOP yo ACE!. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Beebus!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beebus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Beebus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith lands a body shot.
Beebus shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Beebus at a distance.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Beebus.
Beebus takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Beebus takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Beebus doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Beebus looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Beebus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smith holds on to Beebus's head and controls the position momentarily.
Smith is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Smith has his hands clasped together around Beebus's back. He's all about the action.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith is looking to improve his position.
Beebus looks to land a strike but Smith avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Beebus is proving a slippery customer.
Beebus passes Smith's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Smith is looking for a sweep. Beebus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Beebus throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Smith tries to get to full guard but Beebus has control of the leg.

Beebus thows an elbow strike that misses. Smith gets hold of full guard and has managed to get a loose guillotine attempt. Beebus doesn't seem too bothered but Smith quickly shifts his position and has tightened the hold! Beebus is in big trouble now - he's going a funny colour - he's tapping out! Nice finish there! Beebus really should have spotted the danger earlier though... either incompetence or over-confidence has resulted in a big L on his record.
