Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Orlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has chosen Invasion of the Bodysnatcher as his entrance music. Yuri Orlov could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Scott Peterson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Yuri Orlov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scott Peterson! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peterson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Orlov. Yuri Orlov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Orlov fails to land the takedown. Orlov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Peterson as he jumps to the side. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Orlov. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yuri Orlov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Orlov shoots in looking for a takedown but Peterson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Orlov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Orlov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peterson but Peterson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Peterson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Orlov. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Orlov shoots in looking for a takedown. Peterson tries to sprawl out of it but Orlov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Peterson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Orlov misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Orlov misses the target. Orlov shoots in and drives through. Peterson sprawls well. Orlov takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Orlov throws a jab but it's blocked by Peterson. A big left from Orlov misses. Orlov throws a shot to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Orlov. Orlov tries for a takedown but Peterson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Peterson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Orlov. and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Orlov misses with a series of wild punches.
Orlov throws an overhand right that lands on Peterson's shoulder, as Peterson tries to avoid the shot. Peterson moves out of range of the strikes. Orlov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Peterson did well to prevent Orlov getting side control. Orlov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Peterson manages to get to full guard.

Orlov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Orlov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Peterson pulls Orlov in close to prevent any damage. Orlov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Peterson's guard. Peterson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Peterson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Peterson wants to sweep here but Orlov controlling him for the moment. Peterson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Orlov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Orlov has gone for a leg lock! Peterson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Orlov's guard. Peterson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Orlov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peterson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Orlov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peterson is looking to control Orlov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Peterson avoid being mounted? Peterson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Orlov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Orlov's back! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Peterson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Orlov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Peterson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Orlov kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Orlov working for a triangle but Peterson defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Orlov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Orlov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Peterson counters with a head kick. Orlov throws a series of punches but Peterson avoids them all with ease. Orlov just misses with a punch to the body.

Scott Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Peterson staying out of range there. Orlov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Orlov is keen to just control but Peterson is a slippery customer. Orlov is looking to advance position but Peterson won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Orlov is thwarting Peterson's attempts to control the position. Peterson works his way to full guard. Good work. Orlov tries to free his leg and advance position but Peterson is retaining full guard. Orlov passes Peterson's left leg - he's now in half guard. Peterson is looking to control Orlov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Peterson avoid being mounted? Orlov wants to work for an arm triangle but Peterson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Orlov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Peterson is just riding it out for now. Orlov eventually gives up the hold. Peterson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Orlov. Peterson trying to control the position.
Orlov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Peterson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Peterson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Peterson! Orlov regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson is looking to advance position but Orlov won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Orlov wants to improve his position but Peterson is controlling well.

Peterson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Orlov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Orlov tries to roll over but Peterson keeps him under control. Peterson is keen to just control but Orlov is a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Orlov is looking for a sweep. Peterson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Peterson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Orlov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Orlov actively working from the bottom here. Orlov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Peterson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Peterson's back! Orlov throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Orlov keeps control of the position as Peterson tries to break free.
Yuri Orlov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Orlov has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Peterson breaks Orlov's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yuri Orlov. I think Peterson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
