The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
dos Silva is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gomes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Gomes displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Jeffrey Gomes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomes lands a jab.
Gomes fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches dos Silva on the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gomes connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between dos Silva's hands.
Gomes misses with a two punch combination.
Gomes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gomes throws a good cross that connects.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Gomes has cracked dos Silva with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Gomes lands another huge swinging hook and dos Silva tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save dos Silva, before Gomes can land any more shots!
