PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Buscemi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Franco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buscemi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Sopranos Theme. Franco is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Clobberin Time. Keith Franco will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Steve Buscemi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keith Franco!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franco looks to land a right hand but Buscemi moved out of range.
Buscemi moves out of range as Franco strikes.
Buscemi ducks under a wild hook from Franco.
Franco throws a body punch but Buscemi moves out of range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Franco lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Buscemi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Buscemi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Franco lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Buscemi at a distance.

Buscemi moves into range and clinches up with Franco.

Franco works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Buscemi is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Franco is defending well for now.

Buscemi is trying to maintain a safe position but Franco gets an underhook and turns Buscemi into the cage.

Buscemi moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Keith Franco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Buscemi counters with a nice double leg into guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Franco is pulling down on Buscemi's head. It's preventing any offense from Buscemi, at least for the moment.
Buscemi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Buscemi is keen to just control but Franco is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Poor strikes thrown by Buscemi there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Buscemi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Franco is looking to escape.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Franco throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Buscemi sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Buscemi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
You can see the frustration on Franco's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Franco is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
