Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Kenyon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don Johnston!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kenyon.
Johnston waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kenyon.
Kenyon clobbers Johnston with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kenyon avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kenyon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Johnston's head backwards.
Johnston misses with a hook.
No joy there for Johnston, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Michael Kenyon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kenyon shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnston sprawls well. He's pushed Kenyon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kenyon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnston is working an open guard so Kenyon takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kenyon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Johnston is trying to defend but Kenyon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kenyon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kenyon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kenyon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
