Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick Tapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Cogliano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Tapp might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to "Lukin"-Pearl Jam. Rick Tapp could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Josh Cogliano's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Tapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Cogliano!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cogliano wants to clinch up but Tapp keeps it at a distance.
Tapp looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Cogliano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tapp circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cogliano.

Cogliano gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cogliano bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tapp's guard.

Cogliano trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tapp's guard.
Cogliano trying to control but Tapp is working from the bottom.
Tapp preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Cogliano gets to his feet. Tapp looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Cogliano fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cogliano shoots in for a double leg but Tapp sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rick Tapp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Cogliano.

Tapp pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Tapp lands a head kick. Cogliano smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Cogliano tries to clinch there but Tapp circles away.
Tapp tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Cogliano counters with a shoot takedown. Tapp fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cogliano is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cogliano would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Cogliano tries to free his leg and advance position but Tapp is retaining full guard.

Cogliano stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Cogliano fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tapp, pushing him back against the cage.

Tapp breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cogliano tries to work over Tapp's front leg with a kick but Tapp checks it.

Tapp shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cogliano wants to sweep but no luck.

Tapp stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A left lands for Cogliano.
Cogliano has his takedown stuffed
and Tapp counters with a slapping leg kick.
Cogliano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tapp circles away.
Cogliano is looking to clinch but Tapp is avoiding it.

Cogliano gets a takedown into half guard.

Cogliano stands up from half guard.
Tapp closes the distance looking to clinch

and Cogliano counters by clinching up.
Cogliano tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Cogliano breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cogliano tries to clinch there but Tapp circles away.

Cogliano gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cogliano with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cogliano throws a knee to the head but misses.
Cogliano changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tapp fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Cogliano is looking to clinch.
A head kick by Tapp misses

and Cogliano counters with a single leg into guard. Tapp didn't expect that.

Tapp is working an open guard so Cogliano takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Cogliano closes the distance and clinches.
Tapp is pressed up against the cage. Cogliano has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tapp down to the mat. Tapp avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Tapp closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tapp lands in his opponent's guard.
Tapp seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cogliano is trying to keep Tapp in close.

Tapp avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tapp might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cogliano wants to sweep here but Tapp controlling him for the moment.
Cogliano controls Tapp momentarily but Tapp frees himself.

Cogliano working for a triangle but Tapp defends it easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cogliano is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cogliano drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cogliano jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Cogliano dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Cogliano bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cogliano tries to advance to mount but Tapp denies him.
Tapp is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Cogliano advances to full mount.
Cogliano with the ground and pound from mount.
Cogliano pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Cogliano looking to control but Tapp is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cogliano forces the positional change into back control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A lull in the action here.

Tapp trying to control the hands but Cogliano breaks the grip.
Cogliano struggling to keep hold of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cogliano not allowing Tapp to control his hands.
Cogliano throws strikes from the back but Tapp rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Tapp.

Tapp throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cogliano escapes and throws Tapp's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cogliano is looking to take a break and control but Tapp is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tapp tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cogliano presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Cogliano stands up from mount. Strange move.

Tapp drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Tapp avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Cogliano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tapp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Tapp postures up.
Tapp has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cogliano has his foot on Tapp's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tapp works his way back into a safe position though.

Cogliano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tapp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cogliano manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tapp manages to get himself to full guard.
Tapp wants to stand but Cogliano is controlling the position.

Tapp avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Tapp on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tapp tries to get out of the position.
Tapp has a closed guard, preventing Cogliano from standing up.

Tapp had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cogliano is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tapp Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cogliano's back instead.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Tapp's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Cogliano looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Cogliano wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Cogliano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Tapp's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Cogliano is looking for a triangle but Tapp pushes his legs off easily.
Cogliano not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cogliano has his feet on Tapp's thighs here. He's pushed Tapp off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Tapp screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
