The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten tries to clinch up.
Rutten avoids the body shot from Vega.
Rutten misses with a takedown attempt - Vega sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rutten shoots for a takedown but Vega saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rutten tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vega connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

It looks like Alistair Rutten has been cut.
Rutten looks to land a combination but Vega avoids it well.
Rutten gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rutten takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Vega misses with an uppercut.

Rutten closes the distance and pushes Vega back into the cage.
Vega tries to break the clinch but Rutten is controlling the position.
Vega avoids the elbow strike from Rutten, against the cage.
Vega tries to break free but Rutten pushes him back against the cage.
Vega wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rutten has him pressed against the cage.

Vega gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rutten.
Garcia Vega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alistair Rutten.

Rutten tries to land knees in the clinch but Vega avoids the damage to the body.

Rutten breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rutten on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Vega lands a right hook to the body.
Rutten uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vega.
Vega ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Vega drops Rutten with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Rutten looks back up at him and smiles so Vega waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Rutten is rocked!
Rutten switches off momentarily and Vega cracks him with a monster right hand! Rutten topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Vega dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Vega!
