PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gaius Caesar!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caesar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Mason's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gaius Caesar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Caesar rushes Mason and presses him up against the cage.
Mason's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Caesar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mason regains guard immediately.

Caesar throws and elbow that misses. Mason uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Caesar's guard. Nice move by Mason!

Mason drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Caesar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mason has Caesar in his guard.

Caesar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Caesar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mason with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Caesar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mason keeps working.

Mason pushes Caesar off looking to stand but Caesar dives back in and keeps control.
Mason has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Caesar is working away from the top position though.

Caesar moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mason has worked his arm free - good work by Mason!
Mason regains half guard there - taking advantage of Caesar's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Gaius Caesar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Caesar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
