Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
griffin moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
griffin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Head misses with a head kick.
Head forces griffin back against the cage and clinches.
Head wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Head jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as griffin walks away with a smile on his face. Head gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Head dives in and grabs griffin's left leg, looking for a takedown. griffin pushes down on Head's head and hops out.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells griffin's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
griffin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Head sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten griffin somewhat.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for griffin. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
You get the feeling that Head really doesn't like being in this position too much.
