PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between HB Pencil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred DiBiase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, HB Pencil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fred DiBiase!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pencil takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Pencil throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
DiBiase lands a two punch combo.


It looks like HB Pencil has been cut.
Pencil throws a sloppy head kick and DiBiase moves out of range easily.

Pencil has taken the fight to the clinch.

DiBiase breaks the clinch.
A head kick misses from Pencil.
Pencil misses with a head kick.
Pencil takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Pencil closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
DiBiase gets full guard.
Pencil content to stall in guard here.

DiBiase escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pencil gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

DiBiase is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

DiBiase is looking for a triangle but Pencil pushes his legs off easily.

DiBiase can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pencil controls the pace.
Pencil wants to control from the top but DiBiase keeps moving.

Pencil got a little sloppy there for a moment and DiBiase has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pencil has managed to get both his arms back between DiBiase's legs - danger averted.

DiBiase escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pencil gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pencil slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Pencil stands up over DiBiase, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pencil distracts DiBiase with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of HB Pencil.
DiBiase throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pencil blocks a head kick by DiBiase.

Pencil drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Pencil is looking to work some ground and pound but DiBiase has wrist control.

Fred DiBiase seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Good leg kick by DiBiase there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
DiBiase tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Pencil is able to avoid easily.

DiBiase is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pencil is aware though and is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

DiBiase is looking for a sweep. Pencil is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
DiBiase is looking to control Pencil's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can DiBiase avoid being mounted?
DiBiase is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Pencil working over DiBiase with some ground and pound. DiBiase looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Pencil misses with a two punch combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pencil. DiBiase does a little dance to reset his feet.
DiBiase pulls out of a head kick attempt.

DiBiase throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

A clash of legs there as Pencil blocks the low kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pencil gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Pencil is landing with some decent strikes but DiBiase is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pencil lands with some vicious ground and pound - can DiBiase hang on?

Pencil is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but DiBiase is surviving well by controlling Pencil's body position as best he can.

Pencil is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, DiBiase has managed to escape the submission attempt.
DiBiase tries to hold on but Pencil pushes him away.

DiBiase is desperately trying to improve his position but Pencil has a good base and remains in mount.

Pencil is going oldschool here, as he tries to force DiBiase to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so DiBiase shrugs it off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
DiBiase is wriggling around trying to escape.

HB Pencil showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pencil, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
