Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Jonesy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bert Jonesy!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonesy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
King moves out of range as Jonesy throws a body kick.
King shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jonesy as he jumps to the side.
Paul King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jonesy throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily.
King shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jonesy defends it nicely.
King doesn't manage to clinch there - Jonesy circles away.
King looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jonesy lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Jonesy throws a series of punches but King moves out of range.
Jonesy circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jonesy lands the left hand.

King tries for a takedown but Jonesy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jonesy throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jonesy misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jonesy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
King shoots in for a takedown but Jonesy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
King is breathing heavily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from King is defended easily by Jonesy.

Jonesy forces King back against the cage and clinches.
Jonesy lands an elbow just above King 's eye.
King fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jonesy tries to land knees in the clinch but King avoids the damage to the body.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Come on Jonesy - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
King is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Jonesy slows down the pace here.
King tries to pull guard but Jonesy holds him up against the cage and eventually King drops back down to his feet.
King blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
King jumps guard but Jonesy stands there with King around his waist. King gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jonesy keeps control of King as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

King tries to pull guard but Jonesy won't allow it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Jonesy.

Jonesy misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from King.
Jonesy throws an elbow that misses.
King's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
King tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jonesy smiles and moves away.
Jonesy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King has a takedown stuffed.

Jonesy throws a left that rocks King and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Jonesy dives into side control, looking to finish! Can King regain composure!


King is rocked!
King is trying to control Jonesy's posture but Jonesy avoids it.

Jonesy decides to take the fight back to the feet.
King is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jonesy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nice body kick from Jonesy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jonesy circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! King drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Jonesy follows King to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bert Jonesy!
