PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Negra Modelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hercules Rockefeller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Modelo clobbers Rockefeller with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Modelo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rockefeller moves away.
Rockefeller swats away the attempt to clinch by Modelo.

Rockefeller bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rockefeller is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Modelo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rockefeller postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Rockefeller working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Rockefeller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Modelo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Modelo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rockefeller on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rockefeller looking for the choke but no joy.

Rockefeller seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Modelo's chin but Modelo turns very nicely into Rockefeller's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Modelo.

Hercules Rockefeller dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Rockefeller tries for a takedown but Modelo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rockefeller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Modelo tries to avoid it but Rockefeller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Modelo to the ground. Modelo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rockefeller shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Modelo's guard.
