PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Henric Andersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Mayoffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Andersen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sultans Of Swing. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayoffer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Andersen looks for a takedown but Mayoffer sprawls well.
Mayoffer misses with a straight right.
Mayoffer tries a head kick but it misses.
A head kick misses from Mayoffer.
Andersen shoots for a takedown but Mayoffer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mayoffer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Andersen.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henric Andersen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mayoffer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mayoffer takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Mayoffer misses with the combination.
Mayoffer lands a head kick. Andersen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

It looks like Henric Andersen has been cut.

Andersen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mayoffer is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Andersen is staying active.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mayoffer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mayoffer wants to control but Andersen is keeping busy.
Andersen is pressing down on Mayoffer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mayoffer is holding on for now.
Andersen is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mayoffer throws a hook but Andersen avoids it easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Andersen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mayoffer as he avoids it easily.
Mayoffer throws a right hand that Andersen ducks under and follows up with a left that Andersen also avoids with ease.
Andersen takes one to the chin there.
Mayoffer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Andersen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mayoffer tries to avoid it but Andersen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mayoffer to the ground. Mayoffer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Andersen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mayoffer won't allow Andersen to pass to mount.

Andersen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Andersen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mayoffer hang on?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Andersen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mayoffer looks a forlorn figure.

Mayoffer tries to improve his position but Andersen has taken his back! Andersen has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Mayoffer tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Andersen pushes Mayoffer away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
