Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shane Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Irons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cook might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Black and Yellow - Wiz Khalif. Irons comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Get On Your Knees - Age Against the Machine kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Irons!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irons tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Irons will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Irons misses with the combination.

Cook shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Irons napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Cook working the head and body with strikes.
Cook wants to lay and pray for a moment but Irons keeps working.
Irons manages to get back to half guard.
Irons is looking for a sweep. Cook is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Cook is looking to advance position but Irons won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cook thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Irons's head.

Cook lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Irons missing with a left hand there. Cook was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cook shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Irons but Irons pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cook moves away from the strike by Irons.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Irons is looking to clinch.
Cook shoots in and drives through. Irons sprawls well.

Cook distracts Irons with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Irons is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Irons has his foot on Cook's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cook works his way back into a safe position though.
Shane Cook overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Irons has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cook is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Irons.

Cook seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Cook working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
