Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Demarcus Ware (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ware's entrance music is Put on. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Demarcus Ware!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Henry!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Ware throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Henry.
Henry fails in his attempt to clinch.
Demarcus Ware seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danga de danga de dang - Henry scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Demarcus Ware has been cut.
Ware misses with a low kick.
Ware looks for a takedown but Henry sprawls well.
Ware throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ware fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ware changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Henry tries to avoid it but Ware manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Henry to the ground. Henry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demarcus Ware. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Ware counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Henry throws a head kick that misses.
Ware closes the distance and clinches up with Henry, looking for a takedown. Ware pushes Henry against the cage but Henry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Henry tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ware swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Henry counters with a left and a right that stings Ware.

Henry blocks a leg kick.
Ware misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ware fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ware closes the distance but Henry moves to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Henry is looking to slow Ware down with leg kicks.
Henry throws a head kick but Ware moves out of range.
Henry shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ware as he avoids it easily.

Henry moves into the clinch.
Henry looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Ware drags the fight down to the ground.
Henry stopping the sweep attempt from Ware.
Ware wants to stand but Henry is controlling the position.

Henry throws a big right hand that misses.
Ware looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Henry has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ware is proving hard to escape from.

Ware keeping moving, preventing Henry from controlling successfully.

Ware had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Henry defends it easily.
Ware is breathing heavily.
Henry wants to stand but Ware has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Henry is working Ware over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Henry counters with an inside leg kick.
Ware misses with a kick to the body

and Henry counters by moving into the clinch.

Henry jumps guard but Ware stands there with Henry around his waist. Henry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ware avoids a wild elbow strike from Henry.
Henry lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ware.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Ware as Henry tries to tie him up.

Henry breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ware stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Henry.
Ware dives in and grabs Henry's left leg, looking for a takedown. Henry pushes down on Ware's head and hops out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Henry closes the distance and clinches up with Ware, looking for a takedown. Henry pushes Ware against the cage but Ware circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Henry slaps away a takedown attempt from Ware, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Henry tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ware paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Henry wants to clinch up but Ware keeps it at a distance.
Nice sprawl there from Ware as Henry shoots in.
Henry takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Ware working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ware is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Henry has escaped the position, nice work there.
Henry is looking to reverse the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Henry can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ware is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Henry is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ware is looking to take a break and control but Henry is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Henry tries to buck Ware off but Ware is having none of it.

Henry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ware. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ware prevents Henry from escaping the position.

Ware thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ware content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Henry is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Henry is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
You can see the frustration on Henry's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ware looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Henry lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Henry lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Henry doesn't manage to clinch there - Ware circles away.

and Ware counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ware.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Henry is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ware thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ware wants to control from the top but Henry keeps moving.
Ware looking to sit in guard and control but Henry gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ware has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Henry doesn't defend quickly enough and Ware has managed to lock this one up! Can Henry escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ware on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Demarcus Ware!
