PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Hebert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denny Crane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crane has chosen TOUCHED as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Hebert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Denny Crane!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crane closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Crane lands in his opponent's guard.
Hebert is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Crane throwing strikes but missing.

Crane drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hebert dives on top into guard.
Hebert seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Crane is looking for a triangle but Hebert pushes his legs off easily.

Crane has his foot on Hebert's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hebert works his way back into a safe position though.

Hebert tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hebert has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee asks Hebert politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hebert prefers to stall for the moment though.
Crane takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Crane takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Crane tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hebert wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hebert closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Crane to the mat! Crane manages to get full guard.
Crane wants to sweep here but Hebert controlling him for the moment.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crane accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Crane throws and elbow that misses. Hebert uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Crane's guard. Nice move by Hebert!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Hebert closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Hebert thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hebert seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Crane for as long as he can get away with.
