And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Lau!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pop avoids the head kick by Lau.
Lau throws a head kick that misses.
Lau avoids the head kick by Pop.
Pop tries a head kick but it misses.
Lau throws a lazy head kick

and Pop counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pop.
Lau wants to sweep here but Pop controlling him for the moment.
Pop wants to stand but Lau has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pop throws and elbow that misses. Lau uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pop's guard. Nice move by Lau!
Pop looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lau is one step ahead there.

Pop is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lau is controlling him.
Lau trying to control the position from guard on top but Pop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pop on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pop tries to get out of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pop keeping full guard, as Lau tries to pass.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pop misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Pop throws a sloppy head kick and Lau moves out of range easily.
Pop misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lau misses with a shot to the body
and Pop counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Lau is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Lau misses with a leg kick
and Pop counters with a big head kick but Lau shrugs it off.
Lau throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lau takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A chopping leg kick lands by Pop.
Lau shoots in and drives through. Pop sprawls well.
Lau looks to throw the jab but Pop is out of range.

Pop throws a head kick that misses
and Lau counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A head kick misses from Pop.
Lau throws a leg kick that is checked

and Pop counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Pop pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lau avoids the head kick by Pop.

Pop shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pop tries to stand but Lau is controlling from the bottom.
Lau wants to sweep here but Pop controlling him for the moment.

and Pop counters with a series of strikes. Lau will be more careful next time no doubt.
Vegas Pop is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Pop counters with a stiff right hand.
Lau avoids the head kick by Pop.
Pop lands with a slapping head kick.

Lau clinches.
Lau tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pop breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pop throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Lau.

Pop displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lau.
Pop looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lau is fending him off so far but Pop persists. Nope, Lau circles away and we're back to standing.

and Pop counters with a head kick. That will keep Lau thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Lau shoots for a takedown but Pop saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Vegas Pop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Lau.
Lau is breathing heavily.
Lau takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Pop throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Lau tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Pop counters with a big head kick but Lau shrugs it off.

and Pop counters with a thumping low kick.
Lau throws a leg kick
and Pop counters with a leg kick.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Pop throws a head kick that misses.
Lau takes a kick to the side of the head.
Pop lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

and Pop counters with a head kick. That will keep Lau thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Pop lands a head kick. Lau smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Pop throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Pop lands with a kick to the temple. Lau shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Pop misses with a double jab
and Lau counters with a nice body shot.
Pop connects with a high kick.
Pop tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pop takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Brandon Lau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pop throws a nice head kick!

Lau avoids the head kick by Pop.
Pop throws a head kick that half lands.
Lau closes the distance looking to clinch

and Pop counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pop.

Pop stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Pop throws a head kick that Lau semi-blocks.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lau shoots and misses
and Pop counters with a stiff right hand.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pop, right into the meat.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Pop closes the distance and clinches up with Lau, looking for a takedown. Pop pushes Lau against the cage but Lau circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Pop counters with a good low kick that Lau was not able to check.
Pop throws a head kick that half lands.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lau.
Pop throws a head kick but Lau moves out of range.

Pop lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Vegas Pop is winning the standup battle so far.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Pop.
Pop throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lau's head.
A big left from Lau misses.

Pop gets a takedown into half guard.
Pop thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Lau to regain full guard.
Pop wants to stand but Lau has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pop throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lau works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Pop stopping the sweep attempt from Lau.
Lau preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lau takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lau keeping moving, preventing Pop from controlling successfully.

Pop is looking to stand up but Lau won't let him.
Pop throws a strike but Lau rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Pop wants to sweep here but Lau controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Pop counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Lau is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Vegas Pop is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Pop looks to land a combination but Lau avoids it well.
Pop is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lau can do to turn this around?

Lau falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pop counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Lau is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Pop rather than just go for the knockout.

Pop takes the fight into the clinch.
Lau tries to land knees in the clinch but Pop avoids the damage to the body.
Lau tries to pull guard but Pop holds him up against the cage and eventually Lau drops back down to his feet.
Brandon Lau has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Vegas Pop showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Pop has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
