PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ross Swayzey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Jovani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oscar Jovani told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oscar Jovani!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jovani looks to score with a jab to the body but Swayzey is just out of range.

Jovani moves into the clinch.

Jovani breaks from the clinch.
Jovani is looking to clinch but Swayzey is avoiding it.
Some wild striking there from Swayzey.
Jovani tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Swayzey was well out of range. Poor timing from Jovani.
Swayzey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jovani but Jovani pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jovani has Swayzey up against the ropes in a clinch.
Jovani swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Swayzey wants to break the clinch but can't.
Swayzey has had enough of the clinch but Jovani keeps him there for the moment.
Swayzey looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jovani swings wildly with an uppercut but Swayzey uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jovani misses with a hook from the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Swayzey's face as he tries to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jovani is trying to break free.

Jovani's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Swayzey punishes Jovani's body with a nice straight punch.
Jovani tries to close the distance and clinch but Swayzey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Swayzey swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jovani.
Jovani tries to close the distance and clinch up but Swayzey swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jovani misses with a hook to the body
letting Swayzey counter with a right hand.
Swayzey misses with the combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jovani tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Swayzey counters with a two punch combo.
Left hook, right uppercut from Swayzey.

Jovani is rocked!
Swayzey misses with a double jab.
Jovani is still on wobbly legs! Can Swayzey finish him?
Swayzey lands a slapping body shot.
Jovani seems to have recovered his senses.

Swayzey lands a left and a right that send Jovani crashing to the mat, dazed. Swayzey thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Swayzey works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jovani tries to clinch up
and Swayzey counters with a straight right hand.
Swayzey looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Swayzey fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jovani on the side of the head.
Oscar Jovani is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jovani closes the distance looking to clinch
and Swayzey counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Jovani! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!
