The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bogdan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cruz tries to avoid it but Bogdan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cruz to the ground. Cruz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bogdan shoots in looking for a takedown. Cruz tries to sprawl out of it but Bogdan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Cruz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bogdan tries to score with a low kick but Cruz moves his leg out of the way.
Bogdan lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Bogdan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cruz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
