Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Smyth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Basheer Saleh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smyth comes into the arena with RZA - Fatal blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Basheer Saleh!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smyth throws a shot to the body.
Smyth throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Smyth is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Saleh.
Saleh swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Smyth lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Smyth misses with a straight right.
Saleh takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Saleh fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smyth avoids it really well and circles away.
Decent striking displayed by Smyth there.
Smyth looks to land a right hand but Saleh moved out of range.
Saleh throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smyth misses with a hook. Saleh ducked under it nicely.
Saleh throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Smyth to counter with a crisp jab.
Saleh misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Saleh takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Smyth moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Saleh forces Smyth back against the cage and clinches.
Smyth lands a hook that snaps the head of Saleh backwards.

Saleh has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Smyth clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smyth is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saleh somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Smyth breaks Saleh's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Smyth landing some decent shots from guard.
Saleh looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Saleh keeping full guard, as Smyth tries to pass.
Saleh is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Smyth thows a big elbow that misses.
Smyth postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Saleh had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smyth defends it easily.
Saleh wants to sweep here but Smyth controlling him for the moment.
Smyth has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Left hook, right uppercut from Smyth.
Saleh misses with a takedown attempt
and Smyth connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Smyth lands a slapping body shot.
Saleh takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Saleh rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smyth moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Saleh looks gassed!
Smyth lands with a shot to the body.
Saleh tries to move into range but Smyth moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
A punch lands to the side of Saleh 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Basheer Saleh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A right-left combo lands from Smyth.
Smyth bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Smyth lands a jab.
A cross from Smyth lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saleh throws a combination that misses
and Smyth counters with a left and a right that stings Saleh.
Smyth takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Saleh is rocked!
Saleh loses concentration momentarily and Smyth pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Saleh crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Smyth finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
