The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Dick looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Layden is fending him off so far but Van Der Dick persists. Nope, Layden circles away and we're back to standing.
Van Der Dick connects with a high kick.
Van Der Dick shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Layden has his takedown stuffed
and Van Der Dick counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Van Der Dick has gone for a leg lock! Layden slips out almost immediately though and dives into Van Der Dick's guard.
Van Der Dick tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Layden is pushing down on Van Der Dick's leg trying to pass to half guard. Van Der Dick is fighting to maintain full guard but Layden has managed to sneak the leg through.
Layden prevents Van Der Dick from improving his position.
Van Der Dick tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Layden manages to move to mount!

Layden prevents Van Der Dick from getting the reversal.
Layden with the ground and pound from mount.
Layden is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Van Der Dick is forced to tap! Great finish!
