Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Green Pea!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pea gets a takedown into half guard.
Powers keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Pea is looking to take a break and control but Powers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Powers trying to control from the bottom.
Pea throwing shots but Powers is blocking nicely.
Powers is trying to get back to full guard.
Powers tries to kick Pea off in order to stand up. Pea Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Powers is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pea's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Pea is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Powers!

Powers is trying to escape the mount.
Powers regains half guard.
Pea wants to free his trapped foot but Powers is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Pea moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Powers.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pea thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Powers sneaks back into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pea not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Powers gets back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Powers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pea stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Powers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Powers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Powers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Powers is trying to control the position but Pea postures up.
Powers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Powers is on top in guard.

Pea looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Powers wants to control from the top but Pea keeps moving.

Pea has his foot on Powers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Powers works his way back into a safe position though.

Pea looking for a guillotine here but Powers defends easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pea can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pea wants to sweep but no luck.

Pea escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Powers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pea is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Powers controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Powers scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pea has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Powers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pea is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Powers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pea is keeping the position for now.

Pea is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Powers pushes down on Pea's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Powers lands strikes from half guard.
Powers scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Pea taking some punishment here, with Powers in his half guard.
Powers tries to stand and escape but Pea actually recovers to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pea working for a triangle but Powers defends it easily.
Pea looking for a sweep. Not yet Pea, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Green Pea dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pea keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Powers.
Powers misses with a wild body shot.
Powers waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Pea.
Powers fails to land with a series of punches.
Powers misses with a straight right.

Pea looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Pea seems to be working for a kimura but Powers defends the submission attempt.
Pea thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Pea has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Powers defend it? Pea steps over the head and cranks it - Powers is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Pea!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Green Pea!
